Paganello
The pull.
Our team, CGNU, in a group shot with the team from Slovakia. We are (mostly) in red, they are in black.
Recording scores under the robot head.
John and I, trying to stay warm in the wind.
The main field, looking back toward the beach front of Rimini with the big top tent in the background.
CGNU, victorious in third place, minus a few teammates that had to leave early to catch a train.
John flew over to visit last week, and we took a trip three hours south to play in Paganello, a beach tournament in Rimini. This was a frisbee experience like none I've had before. Playing against and amongst international teams and intermingling with Italians that had come to the beach to watch the spectacle made the whole event feel surreal, in a fantastic way. I have to say I prefer this situation. It's so cool to see people from all over the world that play this sport: we played teams from Finland, the UK, Spain, Scotland and Slovakia, amongst others. Beach ultimate is another thing in itself too; shorter games, only five on a side, and lots of digging into deep sand with tired legs and diving, almost impact-free, after discs. It was an awesome time, made even better by having my sweetheart there with me to enjoy it all.
